We are a youth-led group comprised of girls and young mothers in Maseru, Lesotho, that seeks to empower marginalized girls within schools and the wider community.

Because of the high poverty rate, Lesotho faces increased vulnerability to multiple issues. The HIV/AIDS rate is 25%, and early pregnancies and marriages make up 19%. Unemployment impacts 33% of the population. Worries include high school dropout rates and gender-based violence (GBV) cases, with 68% happening among young mothers. This emphasizes our mission at the Butterfly Sanctuary Organization: tackling these concerns for the most at-risk age group, empowering them as essential contributors to the nation.
